Net Zero Commitment & Carbon Reduction Plan
At O2 Care, we recognise our responsibility to reduce our environmental impact and contribute to a more sustainable future. As a care provider operating within local communities, we understand that environmental wellbeing is closely linked to public health and community resilience.
We are committed to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050, in line with UK Government targets, while taking meaningful and measurable steps to reduce emissions across our operations in the short and medium term.
Our Baseline
O2 Care is a small to medium-sized care provider. Our primary sources of carbon emissions arise from:
- Staff travel to and from service users’ homes
- Business travel
- Energy use in office premises
- Procurement of goods and services
- Waste generation
We are currently working to establish a formal carbon baseline year (2024/2025) to measure and monitor our carbon footprint across:
- Scope 1: Direct emissions (fuel use, company vehicles where applicable)
- Scope 2: Indirect emissions from purchased electricity
- Scope 3: Indirect emissions including staff travel, procurement, and waste
Our Carbon Reduction Strategy
We are implementing practical and proportionate actions across the following areas:
1. Sustainable Travel
- Encourage car sharing where safe and practical
- Optimise staff rotas to reduce travel distances
- Promote walking and cycling for local visits
- Gradually transition to low-emission and electric vehicles where feasible
- Encourage the use of public transport where appropriate

- Switch to energy-efficient LED lighting
- Use energy-efficient IT equipment
- Implement energy-saving practices (switch-off policies)
- Review opportunities to move to renewable energy tariffs
- Reduce paper usage through digital care planning systems
3. Digital Transformation
- Using electronic care planning and monitoring systems
- Digitising HR and payroll documentation (Planned in place)
